Happy Day

Tara has turned the corner in her recovery from surgery. All week she has been able to eat well, get enough liquids, and has been up and around the house. Her abdomen is feeling much better and on Tuesday the medicine man had to give her a warning not to start exercising as she suggested she might try.

Chemotherapy was more than 48 hours ago and if she was going to feel nauseous from it, it would have already happened. The regiment they are using is new to the U.S. (research done in Japan) and instead of doing the entire dose of Taxol and Platinum every three weeks, she gets the Platinum every three weeks and the Taxol every week. The Platinum is what made her feel so sick last time around. This time around was just the Taxol.

Help at home has been from my parents this week. Next week it will be Tara’s. It is a blessing that they have taken the initiative to disappear before I come home so the seven of us can be a family. I don’t even know they have been around other than the fingerprints of selfless serving; a wife that is rested, not drained, and kids who are happy.

Tomorrow night Tara will try to go to the Tenth Avenue North concert. She has been looking forward to this for a long time. While she may not make the entire show, it will do her heart good to try.

We are continuing to pray for complete healing in Tara’s body. But we say it again, every day, that we trust God. He has given us every reason to.

  1. Can’t wait to see you at the concert! We saw them last summer at Sonshine and they are awesome! Continuing to pray for you and your family.

  2. How wonderful! It is so great to turn that corner! Your family is very wise to give you time to be yourselves. What a blessing indeed.

    The concert will do ya good–even a few minutes (wear hearing protection Tara!–Cis-platinum causes the inner ear to be very weak and causes hearing loss at times; even one dose).

    Although we have not met yet, a mutual friend Denise B led me to your blog. I will continue to pray. Praise Him for this good day! -mmeier

  3. Oh how Dad and I are rejoicing that things are going well this week..Your voice was so much stronger today when we talked with you. We are looking so forward to coming Sunday and seeing our strong smiling girl back and to praise God for his healing touch. It blesses us to know how much your church family are the hands and feet of Jesus serving your family in every area. A great lesson for all churches to show our communities. Know how very proud we are that you are climbing that mountain and Jay is right there with you all the way. We knew Jay was the one for you, the first time we met him. We thank God for his devotion and love for God and you. We love your giving us the five grandchildren especially since they are the only grandchildren we have. Luv you all, Dad and Mom Woods

  4. Praising Jesus with all of you!! That is fantastic news!! The Lord hears our prayers and yes, we trust Him. We’re waiting at airport now. I hope to see you Tara for even a brief moment. Our Colombian family will be with us at the concert. I am smiling inside and out with how well you feel!! Thanks for sharing this great news. I have so many thoughts during the day that I’d love to share but most important for you to know is you are constantly in my prayers! (And this blog commentary is my brief conversation to you daily…)

  5. I am so excited that Tara felt good today!!! It brings tears to my eyes!!! Praise the Lord!!! I hope to see you at the concert!

  6. Thus says the Lord:
    “Cursed is the man who trusts in man
    and makes flesh his arm,
    whose heart turns away from the Lord.
    He is like a shrub in the desert,
    and shall not see any good come.
    He shall dwell in parched places of the wilderness,
    in an uninhibited salt land.

    Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.
    whose trust is the Lord.
    He is like a tree planted by water,
    that sends out its roots by the stream,
    and does not fear when heat comes,
    for its leaves remain green,
    and is not anxious in the year of drought,
    for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

    Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed;
    save me, and I shall be saved;
    for thou art my praise.

    Jerimiah 17:5-8, 14

  7. You guys don’t know me; but I am Brian Harrison’s sister (he is your sound guy at Autumn Ridge) but I wanted to let you know how encouraged I am each day by your entries. I too, have been dealing with some health issues and I look forward to your “devotion” each evening in my inbox 🙂 I pray for all of you and am excited to hear that you will try and attend the 10th Avenue North concet tomorrow night. We saw them last week in Eau claire, WI. I pray they can touch your hearts and lift your spirits!! God’s blessings on all of you!

  8. Praise The Lord that you are feeling better, Tara! Our prayers are with you every day and throughout the day!
    “I am holding you by your right hand — I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, “Do not be afraid, for I am here to help you.” Isaiah 41:13. He has truly been there for you and your family and we praise Him and continue to ask Him for your complete healing. We love you all! — the Rowes.

  9. I was praying for you today as we visited Jericho and heard from Dan about how that is a message of trusting in God. So appropriate given your message today. We then went to the shepherd’s fields/caves and the nativity cave, where I also prayed for you as we touched the area where it is generally accepted that our Christ was born. We will pray for you all along the Palm Sunday walking path tomorrow.
